It is originally from a village called Tapeswaram, situated near Kakinada, a city of Andhra. Hence, this sweet is also known as Madatha Khaja. Traditionally, Khajas are prepared by frying the dough in ghee and later dipping the fried pieces in sugar syrup. Unlike other variations of Khaja, Tapeswaram Khaja has a layered texture that can quickly absorb in the sugar syrup when it is soaked in. This amazing sweet is perfect to prepare for any festival like Diwali and Christmas.
