Ingredients Needed For Puran Poli:

(Cooking for 6 people)

  1. 1 cup flour maida/wheat/all purpose flour/small sooji rava

  2. 1 ½ cup chana dal or tur dal

  3. 1 ½ jaggery or sugar

  4. ½ cup ghee

  5. 1 teaspoon elaichi powder

  6. 3 cups of water

  7. 1 cup oil or as required

  8. Half teaspoon salt

  9. 1 teaspoon turmeric powder

  10. ¼ cup flour for dusting

Procedure For Making Puran Poli:

  1. Take a bowl mix flour with water as required to make well a stiff dough

  2. Cover the dough and kept aside for 1 hour

  3. Now take a pressure cooker, add chana dal or tur dal, water and  little turmeric powder

  4. Turn on the gas stove and put the cooker on the gas and heat it on high flame. Pressure cook for 3 to 4 whistles. Now turn off the flame. Once it is cool, remove the excess water.

  5. Transfer the dal into another bowl and allow it to cool

  6. Now take another pan and add little ghee 

  7. Now add jaggery and mix well 

  8. Cook on low flame until jaggery melts perfectly

  9. Now add a pinch of elaichi powder and mix well 

  10. Now turn off the flame and keep aside

  11. After the dough rested for 1 hour knead the dough slightly
