Prawn pickle is common in South India especially in Goa, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala. It is more famous and originated from southern coastal regions. The Kerala special prawn pickle is locally known as Chenmeen Achar. There are minor variations between pickles made in different parts of India based on the spices.

Ingredients
The following are the ingredients needed to prepare Prawn pickle,
- Prawn - 500 g small-sized
- Ginger and garlic paste - 2 tablespoons
- Vinegar - 1/4 cup
- Green chillis - 5 numbers
- Mustard seeds - 3 teaspoon
- Fenugreek seeds - 2 tablespoons
- Cumin seeds - 2 tablespoons
- Red chilli powder - 1 tablespoon or as preferred
- Turmeric powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt as required
- Oil - ¼ cup
Preparation Steps
- Wash and clean prawns. Dry it using a white cloth.
- Marinate the prawns with salt and turmeric powder and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Dry roast the spices like mustard seeds, cumin seeds and fenugreek seeds separately for a couple of minutes and grind them into a fine powder.
- In a pan, fry the marinated prawns in around a quarter cup of oil for five to six minutes.
- Drain the oil and keep the fried prawns aside.

- In the same pan add a teaspoon of mustard seeds, ginger garlic paste and green chillis and saute it for a few minutes.
- Add the prepared powder, vinegar, and fried prawns. Give the contents a good mix.
- Switch off the flame and transfer it to a dry jar. Make sure to use a clean and sry spoon while serving.
